Vet Bardwell Valley: Routine Care That Keeps Your Pet Well

Keeping a pet well is mostly the quiet, routine work: the yearly check, the vaccination that comes due, the day an older dog starts taking the stairs a little slower. The vet Bardwell Valley families keep coming back to is the one that handles all of it, year on year, and that steady care is what we are built around at Rockdale Veterinary Hospital, a short drive up Forest Rd in Sydney’s St George area, one of the areas we care for. We are family-owned, so the same team gets to know your pet over time rather than meeting them cold each visit.

Keeping Your Pet Well, From First Shots to Senior Years

A new puppy or kitten starts with a full health check, their first vaccinations and puppy preschool in Bardwell Valley, setting good habits in place early. From there, an annual wellness check is where most problems get caught while they are still small and cheap to fix. We listen first, examine head to tail, keep vaccinations current, and talk through diet, weight, teeth and parasite cover for the year ahead.

As a pet ages, the visits matter more, not less. A senior dog or cat needs a closer look at the things that creep up quietly, and when something does need investigating, the X-ray, ultrasound and heart scanning are here in the clinic, the same full animal hospital in Bardwell Valley families rely on, with vet dentistry, desexing, and general and orthopaedic surgery done on site too, so a routine check that turns up something is followed through by the people who already know your pet. And if a problem ever genuinely calls for a specialist, we will tell you plainly and organise it, because that is sometimes the right call.

A Gentler Visit for the Pet That Hates the Vet

Routine care only works if your pet will tolerate the trip, and plenty of them do not. We are a Fear Free practice, which means we never scruff cats or muzzle dogs. We work at the animal’s pace, use patient handling, and reach for calming medication when a pet genuinely needs help to relax. Standard consultations run a full 30 minutes, so a nervous animal has time to settle and you have time to raise everything on your mind. Dogs and cats also have separate consult rooms, so a wary cat is not sitting nose to nose with a bouncy dog.

We welcome all sizes and breeds!

Rockdale Veterinary Hospital, Caring for Bardwell Valley Pets

We opened in 2022 to build a clinic that takes a pet’s emotional welfare as seriously as its physical health, and pet owners have rated that care 4.9 stars across 230 reviews. Owner and head vet Dr Robert Kay leads the practice. He has more than 20 years in companion-animal medicine, is Fear Free qualified, and is the surgeon behind our orthopaedic work, supported by a team of skilled veterinary nurses. That continuity is the real value of routine care: the vet at this year’s check has your pet’s history in front of them, not a blank page.

Getting Here, Our Hours and What a Visit Costs

Bardwell Valley sits just west of Bexley, beside Bardwell Park and Earlwood, and we are the same team behind general vet care in Bardwell Park and general vet care in Bexley, so the clinic at 335 Forest Rd is an easy run for a check-up. We are open 7 days, Monday to Friday 8:00am to 7:00pm, Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Sunday 10:00am to 3:00pm, closed public holidays. Book online any time, call 02 9123 6888, or email team@rockdalevets.com.au.

We keep our pricing accessible on purpose, and if your pet is insured we bill most pet insurers directly, so for hospital treatment and surgery you pay only the gap rather than the full amount upfront. What a visit comes to depends on what your pet needs, so we give you a clear estimate before anything goes ahead. Ask us when you book.

For most healthy adult pets, once a year alongside their vaccinations. Puppies and kittens need a short series early on, and once a dog or cat reaches its senior years, around seven for many of them, a check every six months helps us catch the slow changes sooner.

Yes. We hold the full history for every patient, so reminders go out when a vaccination or check is due and the vet has the whole picture at each visit. Seeing the same team year on year means we are measuring against your pet’s own normal, not a textbook average. If you are moving across from another clinic, bring or forward what records you have and we will pick up from there.
