Vet Banksia: Gentle, Fear Free Care a Stop From Home

If you live in Banksia, your vet is close enough to feel like part of the neighbourhood. This little pocket of Sydney’s St George area, part of the areas we care for, sits between Rockdale and Arncliffe, a few minutes from Banksia station, and Rockdale Veterinary Hospital is just up Forest Rd in Bexley. We are a Fear Free practice, which means no scruffing cats and no muzzling dogs. For a pet that hates leaving the house, a gentle pair of hands close to home makes the whole thing easier.

Right Beside You, Between Rockdale and Arncliffe

Banksia is small and easy to place: it sits in NSW between Rockdale and Arncliffe, with the rail line running through it and Kogarah a little further down the line. We look after pets from all of it, whether that is general vet care in Arncliffe or general vet care in Kogarah. That puts our clinic only a short drive north up Forest Rd into Bexley, with parking on site, and no freeway or cross-city run in between.

Why a Nervous Pet Has an Easier Time With Us

Plenty of animals decide they dislike the vet well before they reach the door, and Fear Free is how we answer that. We slow the visit right down: a frightened cat can stay in the bottom half of its carrier, an anxious dog gets a moment to settle, and we reach for calming medication when a pet truly needs help to relax rather than forcing anything. Standard consultations run a full 30 minutes, so your pet is not rushed and you have time to raise everything you came in for. We also keep separate dog and cat consulting rooms, so a wary cat is not unsettled by a roomful of dogs before its appointment even begins.

We welcome all sizes and breeds!

Most of What Your Pet Needs, in One Place

Most of what your pet needs across its life happens in our building, so you are rarely sent elsewhere. That covers health checks and consultations, vaccinations, and puppy preschool in Banksia for owners just starting out, through to in-clinic diagnostics with digital X-ray and ultrasound, vet dentistry near Banksia, desexing, and general and orthopaedic surgery. When a case genuinely calls for a specialist, we set up the referral and stay across it. Keeping diagnostics and surgery in-house means fewer trips for you and a familiar team your pet already knows handling each step.

Open 7 Days: Hours, Booking and What It Costs

We are at 335 Forest Rd, Bexley, open 7 days: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 7:00pm, Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Sunday 10:00am to 3:00pm. Those weeknight hours until 7:00pm help when your pet only seems off once you are home from work, and the weekend opening means a Saturday limp or a Sunday upset stomach does not have to wait. Book by phone on 02 9123 6888, by email at team@rockdalevets.com.au, or online whenever it suits. On cost, we would rather you ask than delay a visit. Our everyday pricing is set to be genuinely accessible, and if your pet is insured we bill most pet insurers directly, so for treatment and surgery you pay only the gap. Because the cost depends on what your pet actually needs, we talk you through it before anything goes ahead. The one exception to those hours is public holidays, when we close.
